Prosthetics

At Swift Prosthetics we are committed to providing accessible, private prosthetic care to clients across the UK. We take time to listen to, and work closely with, each of our patients to assess their specific activity needs and goals, allowing us to create truly bespoke prosthetic solutions.

Lower Limb Prosthetics

We have extensive experience in fitting all types of lower limb prosthetics, from simple lightweight limbs to those incorporating the latest microprocessor and hydraulic technologies.

We pride ourselves in providing an independent service and ensure that our prescriptions include the most appropriate components, from leading manufacturers, to ensure optimal function for our patients.

Upper Limb Prosthetics

We are experienced in fitting a full range of upper limb prosthetic solutions, from advanced myo-electric and microprocessor controlled componentry, to body powered prosthetic fingers.

We are continually developing ways to reduce the weight of our upper limb prescriptions, both through innovating new solutions using design software and 3D printing technologies and using our industry relationships to optimise the use of prosthetic components.

Cosmetic Finishes

The cosmetic appearance of a prosthesis is an entirely personal choice and is very important in terms of positive body image. At Swift Prosthetics we offer a full range of finishes to suit individual preference, from statement hydro-graphic designs and innovative 3D printed prosthetic covers to highly realistic cosmetic silicone.

What to expect when receiving a new prosthesis

  • Initial Assessment

Following a comprehensive initial assessment we create a bespoke prosthetic care plan including details of prosthetic prescription costs.

  • Casting Appointment

We take all the anatomical measurements needed and make a cast of the residual limb, which is then rectified to optimise socket comfort and fit.

  • Diagnostic Socket

At this appointment we visually check prosthetic fit using the transparent diagnostic (check) socket and make comfort adjustments as required.

  • Final Delivery

The custom prosthesis will be fit and alignment optimised using gait assessment. We will demonstrate the correct donning and doffing of the prosthesis.

  • Post Delivery Review

We schedule this appointment a number of weeks after delivery to address any concerns and make any final adjustments after a period of use.
